We would like to invite you to a discussion panel initiating the work of the Commission for Personal Data Protection at the ICC, the theme of which will be:

Inaugural lecture of the Commission for Personal Data Protection at ICC about the GDPR in the banking industry

During the meeting, we will talk about experiences related to the six-month period of the GDP’s application and the new Polish regulations in this area, including the package of laws which implement the GDPR. The meeting will be an opportunity to discuss issues that arise when applying the GDPR in the banking industry. The topics which will be discussed include the cooperation with UODO, implementation of rights of persons, GDPR and AML, data breach incidents, post-implementation audits, validation of documentation created during the implementation of the GDPR, employee monitoring and GDPR in M&A transactions.

The debate will be the basis for further work of the Commission - we would like to identify the areas which will be worthwhile for the Commission to get involved in to develop a common approach of the sector to the challenges of GDPR (except the Code of Good Practices), including the legislative work that should be done, whether there is a need to organize additional training sessions, etc.

We want the Commission to play an opinion-forming role as well as a forum for exchanging experience and for developing common good practices regarding privacy protection.

Several entities have already confirmed their participation in the debate, including representatives of ING Bank Śląski S.A., Santander Bank Polska SA, mBank S.A., Bank Millennium S.A.

The meeting will be moderated by Agnieszka Mencel, chairwoman of the newly established Commission for Personal Data Protection at ICC Polska.
