II Meeting of ICC Poland Commission on Competition 2013-05-01

On December 12 2013, at the registered office of K&L Gates in Warsaw, the second meeting of the ICC Poland Commission on Competition was held. The agenda included specification of the activity plan and discussion of the most important amendments intended to be introduced to the Act of Competition and Consumer Protection, including liability of natural persons, merger control, or a procedure of voluntary submission to penalty and leniency.

A substantial part of the meeting was the presentation of various approaches to the planned amendments within the discussion panel comprising Dr. Jana Planavova-Latanowicz (Warsaw University), Dr. Dominik Wolski (Jeronimo Martins) and Wojciech Kowalewski (Siemens Polska). The panelists presented their opinions on the planned amendments and indicated the related risks for entrepreneurs. The panel ended with a vivid discussion and, subsequently, a decision was made on the presentation of an official standpoint regarding the proposed amendments to the ICC Poland Commission on Competition. This standpoint will be published at the beginning of next year. Also during the meeting, temporary authorities of the Commission were appointed, namely:

  1. President of the Commission - Wojciech Kowalewski (Siemens)
  2. Vice-President of the Commission - Marcin Trepka (K&L Gates)
  3. Vice-President of the Commission - Sabina Famirska (Wardyński i Wspólnicy)

The most important tasks of the new authorities will include organization and stabilization of the Commission’s work, preparation and implementation of the activity plan, and preparation and conduct of elections in the first half of 2014.
