ICC Young Arbitration & ADR Forum (ICC YAAF)

On Friday, October 20, ICC Young Arbitration & ADR Forum (ICC YAAF), in cooperation with Linklaters, Poland Very Young Arbitration Practitioners and Moot Alumni Association, organized a panel discussion: “Arbitration Insights: How to Navigate Your Career in International Arbitration?” followed by a cocktail reception. This ICC YAAF accompanied a boot camp organised for young arbitration professionals from the CEE region:  among others Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine, and Poland.  Over 100 participants registered – with the turn out of 97 participants in the audience!

The boot camp served as a preparation course for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. The boot camp was organized with support from the Commercial Law Development Program and the United States Department of State and was hosted by SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Uniwersytet SWPS).

Panellists and speakers of the panel: Arbitration Insights: How to Navigate Your Career in International Arbitration?” consisted of:

  • dr Cezary Wiśniewski, Senior Partner, Head of Litigation, arbitration and investigations practice at Linklaters, President of ICC Poland, Warsaw
  • dr Maciej Durbas, Partner, Kubas Kos Gałkowski, Cracow
  • Aina Hannisa, Research Fellow, Graduate School „DynamInt“, Lecturer, Humboldt University of Berlin, Berlin

  • Agata Zwolankiewicz, Associate, Linklaters, Poland VYAP, Warsaw

The event was a unique opportunity to meet, network, and learn from industry experts, along with peers, who are all passionate about shaping the future of arbitration. The panelists discussed trends, best practices, and cutting-edge strategies to excel in the arbitration field. The key takeaways from the panel are:

  • Networking and expanding your network is key to building your profile
  • Never stop learning
  • Have the courage to speak up
  • Be confident (but read the social cues)
  • There is no single path to success

We look forward to the next event of this kind!
